Bishop House: Museum, Archives & National Historic Site invites you to view our new temporary display, 'Pte. Arthur John Mackey' curated and installed by OSCVI co-op student, Melanie Pledger. The display tells of the life of Arthur Mackey, a local Collingwood township boy, who enlisted in 1917 and made the ultimate sacrifice in 1918. Arthur's story is told through his letters to and from his family, personal items and interpretive panels. The groundwork for this display began when Melanie volunteered to transcribe Arthur's letters over the summer after they had been scanned for the OSCVI History Department. Knowing that her co-op would begin at Bishop House in September, she chose to create a display based on the letters and additional research she conducted. The 'Pte. Arthur John Mackey' display will be visible in Bishop House's Education Centre from January 20th to April 26th, 2015.
