Transit service will be suspended from 10:00 am to noon on Saturday November 21, 2015 during the Kiwanis Santa Claus Parade.
Buses will not run from 10:00 am to noon on Saturday November 21, 2015 as the return route for the parade passes in front of the only entrance to the Owen Sound Transit Terminal and 3rd Avenue East will be closed at both of the nearest intersections. Buses will begin departing the Transit Terminal again at noon.

Please be advised that the Brooke Bus Route will be detouring around the area of City Hall and the Cenotaph for the Remembrance Day Ceremony on Wednesday November 11th and the opening ceremonies of the Festival of Northern Lights on Friday November 13.
The Brooke Route will be crossing the Sydenham River at 9th Street East instead of 8th Street East from 6:30 am until 12:30 pm on Wednesday November 11th due to the road closures for the Remembrance Day Ceremony.
The Brooke Route will also be using 9th Street East instead of 8th Street East from 4:00 pm until the last run leaving the terminal at 6:00 pm on Friday November 13th due to the road closures for the opening ceremonies for the Festival of Northern Lights. No other routes will be affected by these temporary route changes.
Director of Corporate Services, Kate Allan, gave councillors a clear overview of the proposed 2016 operating budget for the City of Owen Sound in a full day meeting. Without any changes to service levels, the tally of over $28 million in expenses and projected revenue represent a 4.34% increase in the city portion of the property tax bill - a number that will be lower when the county and education portions have been factored in. While councillors asked staff to take another look for savings, they acknowledged that it is their job to make the hard decisions.
A Service Review anticipated in the first half of 2016 will bring the level of services provided by the City under close scrutiny, and City residents will have the opportiunity then to have their say.
The capital budget is up for discussion on December 2.

In 2005 the City raised approximately $16,100,000 in taxation to provide services to taxpayers. In 2015 the City raised approximately $25,300,000 in taxation. In a ten year span municipal taxation increased by $9,200,000 or 57%.

As some streets in Owen Sound remain closed due to construction, Owen Sound Police warn drivers against driving on roadways that are closed for construction, maintenance or weather conditions.
In particular, several fans leaving the Owen Sound Attack home game last Saturday night drove past obvious road closure signs onto northbound on 3rd Avenue East, from the Bayshore Community Centre. While a portion of this closed roadway is passable with caution for local traffic, the roadway becomes impassable a short distance north of the road closure signs.
