remembrance dayIn light of the Provincial gathering restrictions due to COVID-19, the Remembrance Day Service at the Owen Sound Cenotaph on November 11 will not have any public in attendance.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6, City of Owen Sound, and local media partners have ensured that residents will still have the opportunity to acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of our veterans through the broadcasting of the Remembrance Day Service.

The Remembrance Day Service will begin at 11:00 a.m.

There will be no Remembrance Day Parade or Poppy canvassing this year, however, Poppy Boxes will still be distributed to local businesses. Donations may also be made directly to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6 in Owen Sound.

1st Avenue West will be closed from 8th Street West to 9th Street West from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on November 11 for the Remembrance Day Ceremony.

"Even though we cannot gather as a community at the Cenotaph this year, I would encourage everyone to take the time on Remembrance Day to reflect on the sacrifices of our veterans. As a community, it is important we show our respect and appreciation on November 11," says Mayor Ian Boddy.
