  • We recognize that there have been questions regarding the new protocols around daily student screening and illness.

Please be advised that with the support of Public Health, our student screening, absence, and return protocols have been revised as follows:

    • All Bluewater District School Board students, staff, and essential visitors must complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire daily at home and before leaving for the school/worksite.
  • The student screening questionnaire is found at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/.
  • Anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms as per the screening questionnaire is to remain at home until either:
    • They have identified a chronic medical condition with the support of their registered health care professional.  Some students may have a chronic medical condition such as migraines, asthma or allergies.  Their registered health care professional who has access to the student’s medical history can play a role in helping them explain their pre-existing conditions to their principal, including documentations where warranted.  Registered health care professionals are NOT expected to certify that an individual does not have COVID-19; rather they may certify that their patient’s symptoms are consistent with another health condition; OR
    • They have remained in home isolation for 14 days from the onset of symptoms AND are symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school; OR
    • They have received a negative test result and have been symptom free for 24 hours AND are able to pass the provincial online https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/).  Documented proof of the negative test result is not required to return to school.
    • If a student becomes ill during the school day, all siblings must self-monitor for 14 days, but may remain at school.
    • If a student is ill at home, all siblings must self-monitor for 14 days, but may attend school.

We hope that this clarifies the process for parents/guardians.  If you have any questions, please call the school for further information.
