wreck-full

During underwater investigations in preparation for the construction of the outfall portion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade, a ship’s hull was discovered. A sonar survey and subsequent dive has revealed that the wreck is located approximately 5m from the end of the existing pipe, which is approximately 200 metres off shore from the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The City will be retaining the services of a marine archaeologist to conduct a more detailed investigation of the wreck  in order to evaluate its origin, the importance of this wreck, and the presence of any other cultural artifacts.  Further details will be provided as they become available.
