os hospitalGrey Bruce Health Services is re-opening the Rehabilitation Unit at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital. Test results received yesterday confirmed that there are no new cases of Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) on the unit.

The unit had closed to new admissions last Friday, December 7 as a precaution when a patient was identified as a carrier of CPE. CPE can spread to vulnerable patients and is resistant to most types of antibiotic treatment.

GBHS is reminding visitors who are feeling unwell to avoid coming to hospital to visit patients. All visitors are also asked to wash their hands upon entering and exiting the hospital, and when entering and leaving a patient’s room. Handwashing remains the best way to protect against infections.

GBHS would like to thank all staff in Rehab and throughout our hospitals for working hard to protect patients, visitors and colleagues.
