meaford library designAre you looking for the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy-for person? A charitable donation can fit the bill perfectly.

The Friends of the Meaford Library would like to suggest that you consider a donation to the New Meaford Public Library building fund as a Christmas gift for your friends and family.

Meaford is looking forward to having an accessible library that will allow all residents of the municipality equal access to library and other community services. The longstanding dream of having a fully accessible library building will take shape in 2019 as renovations begin on the building at 11 Sykes Street North. Your gift donation can help enhance this new library building.

Libraries are about books and so much more. The Meaford Public Library is the place to meet, socialize, learn, practice, and laugh. Whether it is sharing the daily newspaper over a coffee or helping teens learn to cook and become more self-sufficient, the Meaford Public Library has it. The library also offers Book Clubs, a Photography and Chess Club, crafts, and weekly children’s story times. There is no end to what you can do at our library.

As one library patron said “While I was recuperating from my chemo and radiation therapies, the library was the only place I felt safe enough to go. I knew that no matter how I looked or felt I could find something to engage my mind and that the staff had my back. I was never frightened when there. I knew I was ok!”

So think about making a donation before the end of the year. Contributions made before December 31, 2018 can be used on your 2018 tax return. Donations can be made on-line at www.meaford.ca/newlibrary. You can donate a lump sum or you can sign up for monthly contributions. Cash or cheque donations - made out to the Friends of the Meaford Library – can be dropped off at the Meaford Public Library.

Happy Holidays and here’s to a New Year blessed with good things - like an accessible library!
