Media across the country are covering the recent fatal assault on local restaurateur Sharif Rahman. He died from a brain injury sustained when his head hit the pavement in an altercation with three men who ate in The Curry House and then refused to pay the bill.

Police have issued some images from security footage showing Caucasian men in black shorts, black runners, and tshirts. Family, partners and friends could be expected to recognize the car, the profiles, haircuts, or a possible flag tattoo on one man's right calf.

They also might know that these men were in the Grey County / Owen Sound area that day and why.

Suspect Photo 2What if these men have not returned home yet?

The incident occurred Thursday, Aug. 17, the day before a very large group of mostly men were to begin Reserve training at the Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford in the largest training exercise for the army reservists in five years.

Did some travel together to get here, perhaps in a Ford Escape? They are there until Sunday.

Are there other reasons why men might have been together, dressed like this, on a rainy Thursday?  A sporting event, boys trip to the cottage?  Someone knows these men were in the area together.

As we have all come to understand, acts of misconduct and even crime are committed by individuals among every group in society. Suggesting a possible consideration for investigation is casting no aspersions on the military or any other group.

The men who did this, whoever they are, should find lawyers and turn themselves in to the nearest police station.

Expressions of remorse and not wanting to put the family and community through any more will have an impact on the legal process.

The sooner these entitled men are identified and apprehended, the more easily everyone can breathe.
