An action-packed weekend of local hockey fandom came to a close Sunday night as Rogers NHL hockey host Ron McLean broadcast Sunday night's game between the Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning from a booth smack in the centre of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre parking lot.

Rogers Hometown Hockey will be shining a national spotlight on Owen Sound this weekend, primarily as a hockey town but also as a scenic city on Georgian Bay with a rich history, great civic pride, a picturesque downtown and friendly people, all of which could be a boon to our tourism industry.

The Hometown Hockey crew are heading to local attractions such as Inglis Falls, the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, Bishop House museum (a national historic site) and the Festival of Northern Lights, gathering footage for a special broadcast to kick off this Sunday's NHL game between Ottawa and Tampa Bay. This afternoon, Owen Sound Flight Services flew them over the city for a bird's eye view.

stoem-regFresh off of a thrilling come from behind victory over the Kitchener Rangers, the Owen Sound Attack are set to travel to Guelph on Friday, Jan 2 for the 1st game of a weekend home and home against the Storm.

Just two points separate the divisional rivals, as Guelph is 4th in the Western Conference with 42 points in 36 games, while the Attack boast a 16-10-2-6 for 40 points in 34 games, leaving them 5th in the West.

The Owen Sound Attack started the new year with a win that nearly didn't happen.

Beating the Kitchener Rangers in a shootout on New Year's Day seemed an unlikely outcome mid-way through the third period, when the Rangers were up 4-2. But then the Attack's Ethan Szypula pulled the Attack to within one, and with just over a minute left in regulation and with goaltender Michael McNiven on the bench, the Attack evened the score on a goal by Zach Nastasiuk – his second of the game.
