The Owen Sound U-19 Creative Playgrounds Women’s Field Lacrosse team fell short in the Junior Elite Women's Lacrosse championship game on Saturday night. After two stellar performances in the provincial quarter and semi final games held earlier in the week, Owen Sound faced the top ranked and undefeated Oshawa Lady Blue Knights. Owen Sound had difficulty gaining possession off the draw circle making it difficult to gain offensive momentum. Owen Sound battled until the end with the support of our North Star spectators who filled the stands cheering them on under the lights at the Oshawa Civic Stadium. In the end, Owen Sound was defeated by a final score of 19-10. Jill Goldie led the team with 4 goals, Kennedy Coghlin netted 2, while Kennedy Stauffer, Tara Meikle, Karly Low and Emma Bryan each scored once. Owen Sound finished the season as the JEWL league provincial silver medalists in the debut season of the elite league. Many thanks to our athletes, bench staff, parents, fans and our sponsor Creative Playgrounds for an extraordinary season.
