Dr. Rochagne Kilian began an on-line crowd-funding campaign, Project Hope, in mid-October to raise capital for a private health care facility in Grey County. On December 10, the fundraiser reached its deadline and Dr. Kilian was provided with $23,342 from 199 supporters.
The project goal was $2,000,000. The money was originally to be in the form of interest-free loans, but Crowdfund.ca informed Dr. Kilian that this was a breach of the website's guidelines. The loans were refunded, and all contributions became straight donations.
According to the proposal on the website, the intention was to raise “enough capital to procure a facility without government support, without financial institution subsidies” sustainable through “a membership structure that is based on monthly membership fees”.
The first facility was to be in Grey County.“We will start small, but we will grow and we will expand to other communities until this is the model of healthcare in every community. “
Dr. Kilian was formerly employed by the Grey Bruce Health Services, but resigned in August. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, which put some restrictions on her licence over vaccine and mask exemptions and later suspended her licence , does not list any current address or contact information for Dr. Kilian's medical practice or professional corporation.
