Grey Roots Museum & Archives, in partnership with local businesses and Georgian College, announces the installation of the Grey Roots Logo Sculpture. The sculpture, located in front of the facility, was raised this week and marks the 10th anniversary of Grey Roots.
The Grey Roots Logo Sculpture is a 20-foot steel and concrete structure featuring the five coloured bars of the Grey Roots logo. The Grey Roots logo integrates many concepts of the interpretative plan and symbolizes the stories of the strength of the people of Grey County and their interaction with the elements.
"Once there was a way to get back home" with artist Tina Poplawski
Artist Tina Poplawski's heritage has an ongoing impact on her world view and her artistic practice. Descended from Polish refugees, first stripped of worldly possessions, then ripped from home and country and imprisoned during Second World War, Tina states that she is "attempting to reclaim something of this lost past, this misunderstood history – to bear witness to these fading memories and to create, out of the wreckage, a visual and ethical imagination."

The United Church at Cape Croker (Neyaashiinigmiing) is pleased that several of the Front Runners who delivered the PanAm torch to the games in Winnipeg in 1967 will be at the church this Sunday to speak and to watch with the community, the National Film Board drama of their journey, "Niigaanibatowaad: FrontRunners."

When I was very young, I went to the cenotaph with my father on Remembrance Day. He was a veteran of the Second World War and all the other veterans were the age of my father and my grandfather. Each year I got older and they got older and it became harder to think of them as the young men they had been, the teen-aged sons of those Silver Cross mothers who were waiting for them to come home. But back at our house, my father would put on the records and sing, and we could both imagine ourselves back in the 1940s.
