The Early Childhood Education students at Georgian College are already helping the youngest children in our community, a little more than a month before they complete their studies.
To create a positive conversation around the refugees coming to the Grey-Bruce region, the class held fundraisers at the College to provide some support for the newcomers. By mutual agreement, the proceeds have been used to purchase Arabic-English board books as gifts for the youngest children arriving in our area.
Ridgley Dier, one of the organizers of the initiative, said "We are very pleased with the support we received and how well it all worked out." Sometime between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on March 14th an unknown party smashed the passenger side window of a Dodge Caravan that was parked unattended in the rear parking lot at the YMCA Recreation Centre. A purse was then stolen from the vehicle.
Then again sometime between 8:20 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. someone smashed the rear driver’s side window of a Rav 4 that was parked unattended in the south parking lot of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. As well a purse was stolen from the vehicle.
