During underwater investigations in preparation for the construction of the outfall portion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade, a ship's hull was discovered. A sonar survey and subsequent dive has revealed that the wreck is located approximately 5m from the end of the existing pipe, which is approximately 200 metres off shore from the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The City will be retaining the services of a marine archaeologist to conduct a more detailed investigation of the wreck in order to evaluate its origin, the importance of this wreck, and the presence of any other cultural artifacts. Further details will be provided as they become available.

The City of Owen Sound is asking residents and businesses to run water ONLY if they are connected to a neighbour via a temporary hose, or temporary watermain until Monday, April 27, 2015.
The forecast over the next few days and over the weekend shows negative temperatures overnight, which could potentially freeze hoses unless your water is running steadily through them.
Please begin running water from one tap only, about the size of a pencil, ½ inch diameter (about 1 cup (250 ml) of water in 10 seconds).
Again, this only applies to residents and businesses who are on a temporary hose or watermain.
