Library-fullLibrary-featbNadia Danyluk, Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library Youth Services Librarian, has been announced as the Ontario Library Association's Youth Services Librarian of the Year.

Nadia will be presented with the award at the OLA Super Conference at the end of the month.

The award recognizes Nadia's talent, skill and energy. She has worked so hard to revitalize our Youth Services! Her leadership, innovative approaches and passion for community engagement have been very evident to all of us. Congratulations Nadia on being recognized for your unique and wonderful talents!

Nadia's career in libraries started at the age of 8 with volunteering at her elementary school library. After attending York University and receiving an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Visual Art, Nadia went on to earn her Masters in Library Science from the University of Western Ontario. After graduation Nadia worked for a year as the Youth Services Librarian at the Woodbridge Public Library in Vaughan before moving north to take a job as the Youth Services Librarian at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library in 2007.

In the time that Nadia has worked at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library she has been involved in a number of changes to the Youth Services Department, including a major departmental renovation, the establishment of a Teen Advisory Group and a number of regular programs aimed at youth, including the Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival, an annual murder mystery event, anime/manga club and a teen book club, to name a few.

In her spare time Nadia enjoys reading, playing guitar and ukulele and trying to learn to play the banjo, as well as spending time outside and enjoying the fabulous natural environment of the Grey Bruce region with her husband.

The Board and Staff of the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library congratulate Nadia on this outstanding achievement.
