Owen Sound - The City of Owen Sound is pleased to announce the Gil and Sharon Vanderschot, owners of Lifestyles Realty Ltd., Coldwell Banker in Owen Sound, have partnered with the City to provide free bus service with extended hours on October 27th – Municipal Election Day!
Regular bus service will operate at no charge to transit riders on October 27, 2014 from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with the last regular transit run leaving the Terminal at 8:00 p.m.

Citizens who are advocating for an end to the practice of fluoridating Owen Sound's public water supply have run afoul of the Ontario Municipal Elections Act. According to the Act, "any individual, corporation or union that proposes to incur expenses with respect to a [municipal ballot] question" must register with the city clerk, completing a single page form available on the city's website before nomination day, in this case September 12.
Owen Sound - Patti Kendall of the Blue Mountain Village Association is the winner of this year's Charlie Kelly Award for her contribution to tourism in Grey and Bruce counties.
The award was presented today at the annual Grey-Bruce Regional Tourism Conference, held at the UNIFOR Centre in Port Elgin. It is sponsored by Bayshore Broadcasting and honors the memory of Charlie Kelly, an Owen Sound alderman who championed winter tourism in Owen Sound.
Mayor Deb Haswell has been invited to China next year to meet with Chinese companies interested in establishing new manufacturing enterprises in Owen Sound.
The invitation came last week in a visit to the Mayor and the city's economic developement staff by Chinese Counsel General to Ontario Fang Li.
"This is the economic benefit that I forecasted when Owen Sound twinned last year with our sister municipality of Dayi County in the central Chinese province of Sichuan," Mayor Haswell said today.
