The Owen Sound city council will meet tonight for their first regular meeting since March 2.

It will be a little less than regular, of course, with most of the members literally phoning it in from home, but important business will be conducted. RogersTV will be streaming the meeting live on their website, and it will be posted on the City's website tomorrow.

Very early in the meeting, the Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Ian Arra, will be making a deputation on the current Covid-19 situation in the region. Wayne Ritchie, Owen Sound City Manager, will also be reporting on the actions the City has taken since March 13 in response to the pandemic.

A few site approvals will come before council, including a small townhouse development in the 1600 block of 9th Ave East and a 125 unit retirement residence on the west side of 16th Ave East.

Several financial matters are on the agenda– an Infrastructure Ontario loan application and an adjustment to our borrowing agreement with the Royal Bank.

The committee reports are available for your reading, along with the full agenda, here.

This year Owen Sound council will be hiring a new City Manager as Wayne Ritchie prepares for a well-earned retirement. The City will be reviewing and updating both our Official Plan and our Strategic Plan which will direct city directions and decisions for years to come.

If there were ever a time to take an interest in your city government, and how it runs, this just might be it.
