Rockin for the food bankRob Leonard, The Salvation Army of Owen Sound and Rogerstv, Grey County have come together to do a virtual fundraiser for the Owen Sound Food Bank called Rockin’ for the Food Bank. Rockin’ for the Food Bank ran as a live event from 2012-17 with bands getting together a few days after Christmas to raise money for the Food Bank.

This was the brainchild of Jerry Walsh, who had to stop producing the event in 2017 due to health issues. Rob Leonard, Rogerstv Volunteer Host, was part of the original committee in 2012 and came up with the idea to resurrect the show this year virtually on Rogerstv.

The resources of the Food Bank have been well used this year with COVID-19 pandemic and is in need of donations. Rockin’ for the Food Bank is hoping to help with this need. Six bands will be performing during the show to be broadcast on Rogerstv Channel 53 in the Owen Sound area. It will also be streamed on the Rogerstv website, https://www.rogerstv.com/home?lid=14&rid=50.

The bands include Juanita and the Big Deal, Larry Jensen, Grey Road 1, Jaret Koop, Our Shotgun Wedding and Rob Elder. All the bands sent recorded music segments into Rogerstv to be part of the show. It is a two hour fundraising special that will air on Friday, January 1 at 2 pm. Please tune in and call in with your donation. The show will also air on Sunday, January 3 at 7 pm and Wednesday, January 6 at 8 pm.
