On the evening of the Trump inauguration in Washington, a conversation about Canadian identity and a changing America will be held in Owen Sound. The free event will take place Friday, January 20 at 7 p.m. at the Harmony Centre, 4th Ave East at 9th Street.
John English, scholar, politician, professor and award-winning biographer of Lester Pearson and Pierre Elliott Trudeau, will join journalist and author Michael Valpy in a thought-provoking conversation about what a Trump presidency might mean for Canada.
In a famous address in 1969, then-Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau described Canada-US relations: "Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt."
All are invited to this free event. Donations to Harmony Centre will be welcome.
