At their meeting on September 8, 2021, Council of the Township of Georgian Bluffs passed a resolution to commit to recognizing September 30th as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Each year, the Township will lower flags in honor of residential school survivors and the devastating and substantial discoveries of unmarked mass graves across Canada. On this day, we recognize those that were here before us and remain conscious of our shared past, present, and future.

The Township commits to updating educational resources to show our commitment to the reconciliation process and to share these resources with our residents. Georgian Bluffs staff have created a web portal of educational resources to assist in the expansion of knowledge, available on the Township website at:
https://www.georgianbluffs.ca/en/live-play/national-day-for-truth-and-reconciliation.aspx

The Township commits to being a part of the continued dialogue on truth and reconciliation. Let us all acknowledge this day by listening and learning.
