Yesterday at OSDSS, excitement was in the air and so was whip cream!

Students from the leadership class, Tristyn Wade, Alyssa MacDonald, Carter Rusnak, Emilie Doucette, and Brooklyn Campbell, put together an event in which participants could pay $2.00 to throw whip cream at their favourite (or least favourite) teachers. For  $5.00 you could throw a plate at their very own principal, Mr. Brookshaw. All of the proceeds made from the event were to be donated to the SickKids organization.

Alyssa MacDonald explains, “A lot of us know someone who's gone through the SickKids program and we just thought we could support a good cause and have fun doing it!”

Hundreds of students gathered to throw pies and laugh at their teachers. Whether it be to raise money for a good cause or just for school spirit, students were out showing their support.pie1

“I enjoy the students having fun, but it’s for SickKids and that’s really important in my life,” says Mike Foulds, teacher of the leadership class at OSDSS after wiping some whipped cream off his face.

“My son, when he was 7 years old, had to go to SickKids to get a tumour removed and they were the best. It was an incredible experience in a really trying time for the family. They treated us like gold and they took care of the kids so anytime I can support SickKids I always do.”

Other teachers volunteering for the cause included Mr. Playter, Mr. Carr, Mr. Carmichael, Mrs. Wardell, Mr. Klunder, Mrs. Rossignol, and Mr. Lee.

All in all, despite the event being for only a few minutes over lunch, the students and teachers raised $209.00! Way to go Wolves!

Big thank you to the sponsors; Shoppers Drug Mart, Giant Tiger, Zehrs, Wholesale Club, Foodland, Food Basics and Meaford Long Term Care for all of their help and donations.
