Ontario Green leader MPP Mike Schreiner is in Owen Sound Tuesday, Jan. 31, to join a rally protesting the Ontario government's contentious Bill 23 and its related policies.

Local advocates will gather at 4:00 p.m. on the Gitche Namewikwedong Bridge before a social with Mr. Schreiner at Grey Gallery at 5:00 p.m.

The Green Party of Ontario shares:

Mike2023Join your neighbours at 4:00 p.m. sharp Tuesday, Jan. 31, as we tell the Ontario government they cannot keep bulldozing over the precious farmland that feeds us all and paving over the wetlands that protect us from extreme weather.

Ontario Green Party leader MPP Mike Schreiner will join local environmental advocates to save farmland and wetlands from the development opened up by Bill 23 and its related policies starting at the Gitche Namewikwedong Bridge (10th Street bridge) in Owen Sound.

After the rally, you are invited to join Ontario Greens Leader, MPP Mike Schreiner, at 5:00 p.m. at Grey Gallery, 883 2nd Ave. E., Owen Sound.

This post-rally social is a time to share your views and concerns with MPP Schreiner, who will take your views back to Queens Park.

Why rally?

The government is opening up 7,400 acres of protected Greenbelt land to pro-sprawl developers through Bill 23.

Bill 23, and associated policy changes, will:

  • Create a process for selling off conservation lands without oversight
  • Strip conservation authorities of their powers to help protect us from floods
  • Remove protections from woodlands, wetlands and wildlife habitat
