The Municipality of Grey Highlands is currently developing a Municipal Climate Action Plan to reduce the impacts of a changing climate and do our part to mitigate climate change.

The plan is in response to our declaration of a climate crisis and to undertake leadership on climate action in our community.

This plan will address how we manage and consume energy at our municipally owned facilities and operations, leveraging opportunities to implement energy efficiency upgrades, reduce waste, save on the cost of energy, limit greenhouse gases, and become more sustainable.

This plan focuses on climate action in municipal operations. It will integrate with and support the Grey County Community Climate Action Plan, which addresses community emissions across Grey County.

The Grey Highlands Climate Action Report is a comprehensive plan that will guide our community through the climate crisis and help us reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. The report was developed by the Climate Action Committee Task Force, who were appointed by Council to develop a fact-based Action Plan for fighting the climate crisis in Grey Highlands.

The Grey County Climate Action Plan ‘Going Green in Grey’ was developed by the Climate Change Task Force and other internal and external working groups. The plan’s goal is a 30 percent reduction in community greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and a net-zero community greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
