Beth Ezekiel Synagogue stands with our Owen Sound LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters to condemn the recent hate mail attacks directed at their members and supporters.

This incident is especially concerning to our community because the Jewish People have seen targeted acts of hate escalate in the past with devastating consequences.

Here in small town Canada, where disadvantaged voices may not be heard, it is particularly important for the Jewish community to show solidarity with all groups that suffer discrimination and targeted hate.

We have seen a rise in antisemitic incidents in our area lately, and we are working to stem this trend.

Beth Ezekiel Synagogue runs school tours, hosts open houses, and presents public education programs. Our synagogue board continues to work with local officials and public bodies to combat hate and to support diversity in Grey-Bruce.

But there is much work yet to be done.

Today we call on local governments to take a strong stand against hate and discrimination in every form:

  • to increase engagement with all targeted groups
  • to support meaningful public education programs
  • and, to draft policies that ensure our friends and neighbours live safe, secure, and peaceful lives in Grey/Bruce.
