On April 19, Grey County launched a new online tool making it easier for parents and guardians to find and apply for child care. OneList Grey County connects families with all registered child care providers in their chosen area and lets them apply to one or more programs with one simple application.
The new system can be found online at www.greycountychildcare.ca. Anyone without access to the internet can connect with their local child care location for assistance. People looking for child care outside of Grey County can visit www.onehsn.com to see if
the service is available in their municipality.
"Finding registered child care is challenging and filling out applications for each individual provider takes too much time," said Barb Fedy, Director of Social Services for Grey County. "Now, for the first time, families can see all of their child care options together on one list and can apply to all of their choices with one application."
OneList helps families find child care programs near their homes, work places and anywhere in between. If a desired provider has no spaces available the family can register on the waitlist to be notified when a space opens up.
Grey and Bruce counties collaborated to create the new tools. RBB Innovations was hired to design the system using their OneHSN Integrated Human Services Technology software.
"OneList is safe, secure and seamless for families seeking child care and the agencies providing it," said Fedy. "Similar tools are successful in other areas around Ontario. We're excited to take this step forward."
