distracted-fulldistracted-docMUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS – On Friday, August 15, 2014, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division – Mount Forest Unit, conducted distracted driving enforcement on Hwy. 10 north of Grey Rd. 4 (Flesherton) in the Municipality of Grey Highlands between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Nine drivers were charged with distracted driving under the Highway Traffic Act after they were found using their cell phones while driving.

The OPP recognizes that the only way to stop people from dying in distracted driving related collisions is to raise awareness of how serious the problem is and to have everyone make a firm, lifelong commitment to helping the police and safety partners eliminate it altogether.

The OPP remind motorists that the current distracted driving fine is $280 which includes the fine of $225 plus a $50 victim surcharge fine and $5 court cost.
