Skate-Jam-fullskate-featThe Owen Sound Police Service is claiming the 1st Annual Sk8 Park Jam, held in Owen Sound on Tuesday evening, a great success.

Owen Sound Police Service Community Services Officer, Constable Mike Dazé stated, "Approximately two hundred participants and observers attended at the new Kiwanis Sk8 and Bike Park to show off their skills on skateboards, scooters, and BMX bikes."

The two-hour event was hosted by the Owen Sound Police Service and the Owen Sound Police Association, with support by OSPS S.T.O.P summer students and local business Vertical Board Shop. Participants registered then had a friendly competition at different skill levels. The free event featured music by Jason Jennings, giveaways and prizes, as well as a barbeque. Attendees were also treated to a BMX bike demonstration by local rider Zeb Dennis.

"The response from the young people was fantastic, with some asking if there can be two events held next summer. Plans for a bigger and better event next year have already begun", said Daz
