OS-Policesept-fullOn December 31st, 2017 at approximately 3 am, Owen Sound Police were contacted by the operational manager of Heritage Place Mall, located on 16th Street East in the City, advising of a window that had been smashed on the east side of the building. Investigation of the scene indicated that someone had entered the building a short distance before retreating and fleeing the area.

Officers followed the culprit's foot impressions in the snow throughout the business area of 16th Street East. Officers recovered property which was believed to have been abandoned by the culprit in several locations. It appeared that the culprit approached numerous businesses along 16th Street between 9th Avenue and 23rd Avenue East. Officers also observed that the culprit made attempts to enter numerous personal and business vehicles parked throughout the area.

Attempts to locate the male were abandoned after snow removal crews began arriving in the area to clear parking lots and roadways. Police have reason to suspect that the culprit may have injuries to one or both feet.

Police area requesting anyone who may have information that may assist with this investigation to contact Cst. Derrick Edmiston of Owen Sound Police Service or Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce.

Police are also requesting business owners in this area to check security video footage between the hours of 2am and 4 am on December 31st for possible images of the the culprit. The culprit is believed to be wearing dark clothing and no shoes.
