  • jun14U11aThe Owen Sound MACKINNON PLUMBING HEATING U11A girls’ team had a great showing in league play this weekend.  They defeated the Toronto Beaches team 7-1, with Quinn Norton, Keeva Fox and Olyvia Wagner each scoring 2 goals, and Atayvia Jackson scoring a single.  In the next game, Harper Lines got the shutout as the team defeated Guelph 17-0.  In an incredible showing and some creative coaching, each of the girls on the team scored at least one goal - Quin Norton (3), Olyvia Wagner (3), Lyla Doyle (2), Briar McCoubrey (2), Isabelle Brown (2), Reese Harvey, Keeva Fox, Adeline Lemon, Chloe Nickel, and Atayvia Jackson.  Way to go girls!  The team is next in action June 26th in Halton Hills.

  • The Owen Sound U11B Sunbelt Rentals were back in action this weekend in Orangeville. Their first matchup was against Oshawa(2) winning 6-2.  Goals scored by Adele Ferguson(3), Sophie Burnett-Scott (2) and a single from Isla McGregor. jun14U11bTheir 2nd game, they fought hard against Burlington(1) but came up short, losing 9-3.  A couple of goals from Sophie Burnett-Scott and one from Adele Ferguson.  The girls return to action on Sunday June 26th in Halton Hills.

  • jun14U13aThe U13A Legacy Ridge Golf Club played two great games on Sunday in Orangeville. The continue rivalry against Oshawa had them come out on top with a 9-5 win. 3 Goals from Leah Cooper, Adalyn Jackson (2), with an assist from Avery Thompson, Sarah Barfoot (2) and  singles from Rory Jex (assist from Leah Cooper) and Ally ScottLuckily the rain held off as they continued on against St Catherine’s with a 12-4 win.  Netting 4 goals was Megan Nissen, along with 3 from Adalyn Jackson,   2 from London Doyle. Singles from Sarah Barfoot, Rory Jex and Ella ToddThe girls will be back in action on Sunday June 26th in Halton Hills.

  • The Owen Sound Berner Contracting U13B team were in action again this weekend in Orangeville. The girls played two tough games Sunday afternoon. The first game against Six Nations, the girls rallied from a 5 goal deficit at half time to lose 6-5 as a final score. Goals scored by: Reese Harvey, Addison McCoubrey (3) and Jenna Cranny. jun14U13bThe second game against K-W 2, the girls played well, but again, lost by 1 goal, with a 4-3 final score. Goals scored by: Ava Ward and Addison McCoubrey (2). A solid showing in net, making some great saves was Hailey Frede. Well done girls!!  They are back in action in two weeks in Halton Hills.

  • jun14U19The Owen Sound JEWL U-19 Creative Playgrounds Women’s Field Lacrosse team played back to back games Friday night in Acton and finished 1 and 1 on the evening. Owen sound defeated Toronto Beaches by a score of 12-9 in their first of two games. Attacker Kennedy Stauffer led the team in scoring with 5 goals, Tara Meikle had 3, Jill  Goldie netted a pair and singles came from Laine Nissen and Emma Bryan. Owen Sound faced Kitchener Waterloo in their second match up. The game was tied 8-8 at half time but KW held the North Stars to only 3 goals in the second half. Owen Sound fell to KW with a final score of 17-11. Kennedy Stauffer, Jill Goldie and Emma Bryan each scored two in the contest and singles came from Laine Nissen, Tara Meikle, Brooklyn Doyle, Karly Low and Taylor Chegahno. The team will take the field again on Sunday June 19th in Oshawa for back to back games starting at 9:00 a.m against Orangeville.

  • The Owen Sound European Bakery U19 2 girls played two games on Saturday in Orangeville in Women's Field Lacrosse action. The girls faced Burlington in their first match and cruised to a 12-6 win. Scorers were Leisl Stata, Aliviah McCall, and Aliyah Bonterre with singles, Maddie Playter with a hat trick, and Edyn Beyer with her second 6-goal game of the season. The team then faced Guelph in their second game, falling 11-10 to a last minute goal. Owen Sound goal scorers were Edyn Beyer with 4, Maddie Linklater and Maddie Playter with a pair, and Aliyah Bonterre and Aliviah McCall tallying one each. The team hopes to improve their record to above .500 next weekend when they travel to Oshawa to face off against Hamilton and Halton Hills.
