The Owen Sound U19A Krueger Steel team had their first two games to kick off the season in Waterloo.

The team fought hard the entire game and never let up, with tough defense, quick passes and fast rushes, the team came out with the win 8-7 over Oakville.

Goals scored by Aliviah McCall (3), Ryann Seaman (2), Camryn Stauffer (2) and Megan Cowan (1).

In their second matchup, Owen Sound played to a 15-0 victory against Six Nations.

North Stars goals were Ella McCoubrey (7), Ryann Seaman (3), Willow Smith (2), singles by Camyrn Stauffer, Hannah Davies and Aliviah McCall.

The team will take the field again on Saturday, June 3, in Owen Sound at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.

The Owen Sound U19 Creative Playgrounds women’s field lacrosse team played their season opener versus Oakville in the Junior Elite Division on Friday night in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Owen Sound came out strong offensively scoring seven goals in the first quarter and managed to keep their momentum to defeat Oakville 17-6.

Jillian Goldie scored 6 goals, Brooklyn Doyle 3, Karly and Cassidy Low each had a pair, while Maddy Playter, Maddy Linklater, Courtney Scott and Katlyn Strong each had one.

Goaltender Gillian Warren was named the team's player of the game for her stellar performance between the pipes.

Owen Sound takes the field again next weekend when they host KW on Friday, June 2, at 7:00 p.m. and Orangeville on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Be sure to come by the Kiwanis Soccer complex to take in the action.

The Owen Sound U15A Fire Fighters split a pair of games on the opening weekend of the Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse season in Kitchener-Waterloo on Saturday. 

The North Stars won their first game versus Kawartha by a score of 8-5.

Bree Wilkins led the attack for the North Stars with 3 goals and 6 points. Taryn Weppler had one goal and four points, while the other goal scorers for the North Stars were London Doyle with two, and Camryn Laycock and Leah Cooper with one each. 

In their second game the North Stars lost to Oshawa by a score of 11-8. Wilkins topped the scoring column again with three goals. Weppler scored two goals while singles markers went to Sarah Barfoot, Avery Seaman and Doyle. 

Next action for the U15A squad will be Saturday when the North Stars will play their only home games of the season versus the Halton Hills Bulldogs and the KW Kodiaks.

The Owen Sound U15B John Shute Optometry team played their first two games of the season in Waterloo.

The Northstars won both of their games.

In their first game against Hamilton they won 16-11.
Lead scorers were Ally Scott, Jenna Cranny and Addison McCoubrey with 3 goals each, Scoring 2 goals each were Lily Shute, Charlotte Fox and Noelle Brewster and a single goal was scored by Emily Rourke.

In their second game against KW 2 the girls won 12-5. Lead scorers were Megan Nissen, Lily Shute and Jenna Cranny scoring 3 goals each. Scoring two goals was Noelle Brewster and a single was scored by Addison McCoubrey.

The girls played hard and enjoyed their first wins of the season.

The regular season for the U13 Legacy Ridge Golf Course kicked off today in Kitchener.

It was a warm one but the girls were able to get past Newmarket with a score 6-5.

Two goals from Scarlett Stevenson along with an assist from Briar McCoubrey. Two more from Hailey Frede and singles from Ella Todd and Avery Thompson.

They met the Kawarthas in the second game. The girls were down 5-2 after the first half but fought back to tie up the game for a 7-7 finish.

Three goals from Ella Todd, two from Hailey Frede and singles from Ava Ward and Addison Fisher.

The team is looking forward to playing in front of a hometown crowd next weekend in Owen Sound at the Kiwanis Soccer complex.

A beautiful weekend for girls’ field lacrosse! Our U11A Ron Hopper Real Estate girls team travelled to Kitchener for our first regular season games.

In our first match against Burlington, the North Stars won 15-7, with goals scored by Keeva Fox (4), Tessa Matheson (3), Molly Richardson (3), Adele Ferguson (2), Hanna Carr (2), and Quinn Norton (1).

The second game saw the team tie Guelph 9-9. Goals scored by Sophie Burnett-Scott (2), Lyla Doyle (2), Quinn (2), Hanna (1), Tessa (1) and Adele (1). Great defense showing by Mila Minard.

The team is next in action Sunday, June 4, when Owen Sound hosts the OWFL league play games.  Come on out and cheer on all of our girls!! Hope to see you there!
