U11 lacrosse june19It was a night of 'firsts' on the lacrosse field tonight as the Owen Sound Hyundai U11 House League girls played a spirited match. The winning goalie tonight was first time goalie Emma Sword who backstopped Team Palisade to a 3-2 victory over Team Kona. Olivia Thornton tallied 2 goals and Ally Scott tallied 1 goal for Team Palisade.

For Team Kona, Violet Shouldice scored her first ever lacrosse goal and Alena McMillan scored their other marker. Team Kona goalie Olivia Thornton had a strong performance in the loss, making a number of difficult saves to keep the game close.

For the first time this year, the coaches couldn't narrow the shooting star player of the game award winners down to only 3, so there were 4 players who earned the awards. They were: Violet Shouldice for her first goal, Mikayla Wingrove for her endurance as she double shifted all night and gave 100 percent at both ends of the field, Emma Sword for earning the win in her goaltending debut and Makenna Liddle for her determination and strong work ethic tonight.

The girls next action is Wed June 26th at Victoria Park.
