karate-regThe Military Family Resource Centre at CFB Meaford and Fudoshin Classical Karate in Owen Sound, are pleased to announce their-co-creation of the Three Battles Program, intended to serve active and retired Canadian Forces personnel and their families.

The Three Battles Program is centred around the teaching of a traditional Okinawan Karate kata, or form, called Sanchin. Sanchin translated literally means "three battles" and refers to the body, mind and spirit - three paths each of us must move through to become who we were meant to be, and are capable of becoming.

Mike Merritt, co-creator of the program, holds a Masters of Social Work degree and is an associate instructor at Fudoshin Classical Karate in Owen Sound.

Flanders-featIN FLANDERS FIELDS

By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
