A six-game winning streak, a full house of more than 3,400, and the annual Bears in Blue prostate cancer fundraiser wasn't enough to propel the Owen Sound Attack to victory Saturday night against the powerhouse Erie Otters.

The Otters capitalized on their powerplays, scoring on three of them to beat the Attack 6-1 at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

The game was a feisty affair with a couple of fights, the bad blood having developed from playing against each other Friday night as well in Owen Sound. The Attack won that game 5-4, with goaltender Jack Flinn collecting the win. The Otters and Attack have played each other six times this year, with the Attack winning two of those matches.

attack-colts-regThe Highway 26 rivalry is seeing lots of action as of late, and the Owen Sound Attack and Barrie Colts are primed for their 3rd meeting in the month of February. When the puck drops on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Bayshore, it will be the 5th game of the season between the inter-conference rivals, and will mark the 3rd time since Feb. 11 that they have played.

The season series currently sits at an even two wins for each team, but the Attack are riding momentum off of a victory last Thursday at the Barrie Molson Centre, a win that has helped propel them to a current four game winning streak. Barrie rebounded from the loss to Owen Sound to win their next two games, including a 7-4 victory over Mississauga in their last outing.

attack-regThe Owen Sound Attack will look to continue their momentum from a strong weekend of games against the Erie Otters with a tilt in Barrie on Thursday night.

The Attack and Colts will be meeting for the 4th time this season when the puck drops at 7:30 pm on Feb. 19, and Owen Sound will be looking to even the season series at two games apiece. Barrie took the two previous games by scores of 4-2 and 2-1 after the Attack romped to a 6-1 victory earlier in the season.

The Attack enter Thursday night's game with a record of 24-19-2-7, good for 57 points and 6th place in the Western Conference. The Colts are currently in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference by way of their 35-17-1-1 record which has garnered them 72 points. Barrie will prove to be a good measuring stick for the Attack, as the Colts are riding a seven game winning streak and are led into action by 40-goal-scorer Joseph Blandisi.

doczy-regThe Owen Sound Attack in partnership with Brock University is announcing that the Do it for Doczy Campaign will continue in light of the positive news that Milan Doczy received last week.

On February 2nd, Milan was informed that an anonymous donor stepped forward to cover the costs of the expensive Interferon drug. Interferon is the drug that Doctors deem necessary for Milan to take while he battles Melanoma.
